Deadpool & Wolverine Fan Art Teases Another Lady Deadpool After Taylor Swift Ruled Out

  • Anticipation for
    Deadpool & Wolverine
is palpable as Lady Deadpool casting speculation continues.
  • Lady Deadpool’s appearance teased in the trailer sparks fan art and excitement for the film’s release.
  • Deadpool & Wolverine
is expected to be a major success, hinting at potential future projects in the MCU.

Anticipation for Deadpool & Wolverine is continuing to grow as the movie’s July release edges closer, and a new piece of fan art has revealed one popular choice for who could be playing Lady Deadpool now that Taylor Swift is out of the picture. Although there is always a possibility that the role of the female Deadpool variant could be played by Ryan Reynolds himself – let’s face it, he has done stranger things – it is the actor’s real-life wife Blake Lively that many are expecting to see slip into the characters one-piece suit.

The arrival of Lady Deadpool was teased in the latest trailer for the movie, which showed a pair of red-clad legs that certainly don’t have the same appearance as Reynolds’ beefed-up calves. However, this blink-and-you-miss-it tease has been enough to inspire one fan to create the kind of thing we could see when the movie finally drops.

The new fan art by @itoonofficial was shared on Instagram depicting Lively, known for her role in Gossip Girl, as Lady Deadpool alongside the titular characters coming through a sling-ring portal. Naturally, there has been no hint of who will be playing the role in the movie, other than the confirmation that it will not be pop star Swift, despite months of social media posts speculating to the contrary. But everyone knows that Reynolds loves nothing more than a good in-joke, and there would be plenty to be made if his other half did turn up in the film. Deadpool 3 Looks Set To Become the Barbie of 2024

Since the pandemic, there has been a strange veil over cinemas that seems almost impenetrable to movies looking to turn a big profit. 2023 was a particularly bad year for the kind of blockbuster films that would usually be guaranteed to make waves, such as The Flash, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, and The Marvels. However, there was a clear savior of last year’s summer movies, and that was Barbie. Along with strange bedfellow Oppenheimer, the Mattel doll became a juggernaut that no one expected. Now Deadpool & Wolverine looks set to emulate that success after many 2024 releases have failed to achieve their expected potential.

Regardless of the curiosity over who will play Lady Deadpool, the film is set to deliver a smorgasbord of cameos and callbacks to the history of Marvel’s Fox franchises as well as some from the current MCU roster of characters. While there have been some spoilers thanks to early set leaks, director Shawn Levy has promised that there are still many reasons for fans to go and see Deadpool & Wolverine in cinemas without thinking they have seen everything.

All of this seems to suggest that Deadpool may very well be an unexpected MCU savior after all.
