Tom and Jerry first appeared in a comic book series called Our Gang in 1942. Seven years later, the comic book series was renamed Tom & Jerry. In this series, Nibbles was referred to as his other name; Tuffy.

This book series includes other characters from MGM shorts. The series continued its numbering into the Western run when the two companies split in 1962.
