Paper Orchid (1949) British crime/drama b-movie, with Hy Hazell & Hugh Williams.

Journalist Stella Mason (Hy Hazell), finally gets her chance at the big time, when she’s offered a job with The Daily National newspaper. Things are going well, with her gossip column becoming very popular.
Then one day, a body is discovered in her flat. The Daily National, and arch rivals The World Record, both using their contacts and resources, battle it out to be the first to get the presses rolling on the story. But when the killer is finally revealed through a very dependable source, everyone is left in a state of shock.

This is a pretty good film, starting off mainly relating to the world of the newspaper industry, with some subtle humour thrown in. But after the murder, the film turns pretty dark, with a bit of a film-noir vibe to it.

The picture quality is pretty rough, but it was the best I could find. I don’t own the copyright to this film. so if there are any issues, let me know and I’ll take the film down.
